Kristina and David both had a ‘heart for adoption’ and hoped to adopt a sibling group of two, under three years old. When a potential match came up to adopt through early permanence (EP) their faith helped guide them to make a life-changing decision. Kristina shares their story.
Jemma is a single adopter who had always wanted to be a mum. She wondered how she would do this on her own and had some real challenges along the way but is now the very proud parent of a fantastic little girl. Here is her story…
"For me, adopting a child who had a different background to me wasn’t an issue – I did have some concerns that family members might not accept him as mine, but I didn’t need to have worried at all. I have a diverse network of friends and they think he is a real character and absolutely gorgeous, as do I!"
Angela and Fran adopted two siblings and have also built a great relationship the children’s younger sister and her adoptive family. Angela shares their adoption story
James and Louise had been trying for a family for several years and due to existing health conditions, had discussed adoption as a possibility. After they were told it wasn’t possible for Louise to have a child, and after an upsetting experience with the local authority in their area, they contacted One Adoption after seeing an advert on Facebook. Having overcome many hurdles they are now the proud parents of siblings, Christopher (six) and Alice (four). This is their adoption story.
"Dealing with the unknown and uncertainties for the child they adopt can be a barrier for some people. I’ve always said I would take a child with additional needs. Many people wouldn’t consider those children but I’d rather be the one who said ‘yes’." Louise and David share their story of adopting a child with additional needs.
Single adopter Sarah proves there are no barriers to adopting siblings once you set your mind to it. Here she shares her story to happiness.
Annie and Bob got the family they always wanted when they adopted three sisters. When serious illness struck, Annie 30 and Bob 31 were forced to halt the adoption process and reconsider their options. They decided to adopt three sisters and embrace family life full on.
“You get a huge amount of pleasure from seeing them hit their milestones, however small. I never thought I would hear my son say, ‘I love you’ but he did.” Here Tom and Janet share their story of adopting two children with additional health needs.  
Jane was 41 and single when she adopted 6 year old Cora. Here she shares her story....
Samantha is passionate about adoption, having been adopted herself. Aged 41 and single, living with her mum and dad, she adopted a baby through Early Permanence Placement.
Jo and Mandy are the proud parents of two adopted boys, who have found they learnt more about themselves through adoption than they ever thought possible. Jo tells their story: Being in a same sex couple we had always considered adoption as an option, especially Mandy – she had always wanted to adopt, and when it turned out that I couldn’t have children anyway, adopting was the natural thing for us to do.

For Harriet and Dan starting a family wasn’t easy. After losing their two birth children due to a genetic disorder they revisited the idea of adoption.  This is their story:  We had a long phone call with a social worker and were instantly put at ease, our fears about adoption were put to rest as we were told the facts about the process, that it wasn’t complicated but that it could be lengthy, but suitably so.

Louise and David had tried for a family for seven years before deciding on EPP as the way ahead ‘We had tried for a family for seven years,’ says Louise. ‘Over those years we looked at all our options, we even considered surrogacy. I had multiple miscarriages during that time, so it was a bit of a roller coaster emotionally.’
Charles and Sophie felt they didn’t want to take the risk of a child inheriting a debilitating disease. ‘We’d been married for about five years when we decided to explore the possibility of adopting a child. Our initial contact with our local adoption service quickly led to a home visit and then we were invited to attend a preparatory course. ’
For Megan and Angie, starting a family was a little more complicated than for some couples We thought about all the alternatives - and explored some a little more than others - and although in the beginning I was keener than Angie to consider adoption that was the path we decided to follow.
Matt and James wanted to adopt a very young child so Early Permanence Placement (EPP) seemed like the natural choice. ‘We started talking about adoption with friends, family and work colleagues, and it became clear that many people had some knowledge of, or had their lives touched by adoption,’ says James. ‘So, armed with encouragement and reassurance, we began researching online to learn more about opportunities for adoption and the processes involved.’
‘You learn a lot when you adopt. Nicola learned that two can be family’ Nicola had always wanted a family, but hadn’t found the right partner to make the commitment to parenthood. She had considered adoption as a possibility, and read and researched the routes available, before taking the next step and going to an information event.
‘You learn a lot as an adopter. Michelle and Chris learned a little personality goes a long way!’ You've got a lot of new things to get used to. Some things you get used to more quickly than you would think and other things seemed to take longer. It's not like having a baby, because our son has already got a personality, he's already learnt a lot of behaviors and he can speak for himself. 
‘You learn a lot when you adopt. Jane and Simon learned how many toys fill a house ’ Jane and Simon made the decision to adopt, rather than pursue fertility treatment, after trying for a baby for over five years. They felt that they could provide a loving, stable family home for a child that needed one.
