Current situation regarding the ASGSF (Adoption & Special Guardianship Support Fund)
The Government has announced that whilst the total funding pot for the ASGSF for 2025-26 remains effectively the same as last year (£50 million), changes to the 2025-26 fund include:
- The fair access limit (FAL) for therapy has been reduced from £5,000 to £3,000 per child per year.
- The limit for specialist assessments remains at £2,500 but there is no longer a separate FAL for this. The £2,500 will be taken out of the £3,000 limit.
- Additional match-funded support for exceptional cases is no longer available.
West Yorkshire adopters
One Adoption West Yorkshire workers have been working with providers and families over recent months around applications for therapy packages based on the previous FAL of £5,000. We are aware that a number of those proposed packages are costed to exceed the new FAL. Therefore OAWY workers will be in touch with families and providers to discuss any changes needed to therapy plans in order to meet the new threshold and any implications arising from this.
