One Adoption West Yorkshire has begun its journey working towards the Bronze Level of the Cultural Cohesion Quality Mark (CCQM). The principles behind the CCQM compliments One Adoption West Yorkshire’s ambition to reduce inequalities and help to create harmonious communities across the West Yorkshire region.
The agency has started this work across the whole service in response to the issues raised during last year’s Black Lives Matter protests.

Sarah Johal, One Adoption West Yorkshire’s head of agency said:

“Following the Black Lives Matter movement last year, we were compelled to look inwardly and properly understand what we could do differently, both as individuals and as an agency – and most importantly, take action.  Our staff and adopters come from all of West Yorkshire’s diverse, rich cultures so it is important that we really are inclusive, treat everyone fairly and offer everyone the same opportunities. This is why we have decided to commit to achieving the Cultural Cohesion Quality Mark. It will enable us all to learn and grow together, and better support and understand our staff, adopters, and prospective adopters.”

One Adoption West Yorkshire staff came together at a recent all staff event to pledge their individual support to achieving the CCQM.
